Debbie, can I post this email to LAtwiist? (x) yes
lol - just saw a pic of you and damon wayans on flickr. will he be showing something at under the radar??
Nope not this upcoming one
looks like it was a cool event, how do you think it went?
It was awesome, everyone who RSVP’d showed up despite a torrential downpour outside. It was great to see everyone so excited to be there and meet everyone face-to-face. Mike Jones said he had been exchanging emails with some of these people for the last two years and never met them in person. The crowd and atmosphere were perfect and there will be many more of these events to come. Ross Levinsohn (former Fox President) offered to host the next one at his beach club this summer.
what was your goal with this event?
Our goal was to reach out to the big industry executives and let them know that Dealmaker Media is expanding in LA and we want their commitment to becoming more involved and to support the broader community that exists in LA. We want them to encourage their teams to attend and participate as well.
was it achieved?
Yes – absolutely, this was the most enthusiastic crowd of top tier executives I’ve seen in years. I’ve had over 20 emails today thanking me and asking when the next one is.
what’s next?
Our first big mixer event is going to be on March 27 at Clearstone Ventures. This event is open to everyone in the community – entrepreneurs, investors and the executives looking to meet the new crew of hot startups in LA.
any random thoughts?
Yes – thanks for convincing me to expand to LA – I think together we will help to the LA community together. But LA is going to take some getting used to — I’m spoiled by the laid back silicon valley crowd. Now that’s irony.
Thanks and btw, I think you rule.
No — YOU RULE.

Hey look, it’s Damon Wayans and Dealmaker Media CEO & Founder Debbie Landa. There was a Dealmaker Media event last night that we’ll share info about shortly. In the meantime, there’s lots of pix to see here. Photo credit: Brian Solis bub.blicio.us
We thought it might be helpful to having a place to find upcoming events, tech & media gigs and some lifestyle info on SoCal.

ElephantDrive is a backup service that never forgets. Like real elephants, it’s big and it works for peanuts - 1 GB for free accounts, and even more for paid accounts. ElephantDrive also lets you access your stuff in a variety of ways – from their backup client, to a virtual drive, to their website, to a handy set of portable widgets. And at Twiistup 2 they’ll be providing a glimpse into their ultimate offering: ePDA (ElephantDrive Pervasive Data Access). Wow! What’s that, you ask?? Buy your tickets to Twiistup 2 and find out.

My son is at that age where he asks me a LOT of questions; Why do dogs bite? How come people wear glasses? Why is the sky blue? Faqqly’s unique spin on social networking has a delightfully similar inquisitive feel…except the questions are actually ones I can answer - like who was your favorite childhood superhero? I said Ultraman (anyone remember him?).
Not only can your friends ask you questions but the site itself does too with their Question of the Moment feature. As I’m writing this Faqqly is asking me what my first job was and how much I was paid. I’m so glad you asked! My first job was recharging airplane batteries for a some guy my dad had a few beers with at the cheesy lounge inside our local Lyon’s restaurant. And I was paid way too little!
See the kind of weird things you find out about people if you ask the right questions?
Faqqly will be showing off at Twiistup 2. Drop by and ask them a few questions.

CrowdRules allows you to ask a question, have the crowd submit answers, then get unbiased ratings. You can use videos photos, images, text and audio from anywhere on the web. Great for audience testing, band battles, casting calls, film festivals, market research and a million other things.
CrowdRules will be showing off at Twiistup 2. Bring your Rubik’s Cube!

Congrats to fantasy celebrity league site - and Twiistup 2 showoff - Fafarazzi.com! They were selected by Star Magazine as this week’s hot website (it’s on page 28 of the July 23rd, 2007 issue).
Fafarazzi works just like fantasy sports leagues - “except instead of scores being tallied for homeruns and touchdowns, they’re for catfights, divorces and baby bumps!” One of my personal faves (ok, it’s really something my wife loves) is hourly gossip posts from over 40 blogs - all in one spot!
Fafarazzi will be showing off at Twiistup 2. Swing by and maybe you can your picture taken with them - just like in the tabloids!
